*This chronicle is an attempt to recommend the new releases of each week by passing over the vast amont of movies the majors offer to the public and to try to get a perspective of the films that are worth every penny you take from your pocket and put into the box-office.
On our radar this week it's Edgar Wright's (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz) latest effort with the long awaited Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.Adapted from the graphic novel of the same name, the fans are expecting something great, we hope the bar won't be too high for Edgar Wright and his star Michael Cera (Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist, Juno, Year One) here.
I believe Wright can do a very good flick, just watch Shaun of the Dead for example; he gave a new fresh breath to the zombie genre. Cera can play a naive innocent teenager but let's see what can he bring more with his interpretation of Scott Pilgrim...
And you what's your suggestion for the weekend? Does Scott Pilgrim vs. The World interest you?
Having seen Scott Pilgrim vs. the World two weeks ago, I can say it is great for SOME people. Grew up on Nintendo, it's for you. Love comics, it's for you. Though it plays itself off as a rom-com, it's not your normal fare for that genre. It's over-stylized, though I enjoyed that fact, loud and fast. You'll get sensory overload that only a younger generation can enjoy.
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty much what I thought about it when I saw the preview. But I think I will like it since it had been compared to Zombieland which I enjoy a lot! Thanks for the short appreciation of Pilgrim Lyz!
