AFI (Amercian Film Institute) has release its Top 10 of the best films of 2011. In my opinion there are many doubtful choices but since they are the "reference" I will try to understand those choices... Well, it's probably the most grossing pictures and the few artistic ones they couldn't pass over. Since I've only seen two of the ten listed I can't really comment but I think that many films don't deserve to even be mentioned in this category. Here's the link.
Here's the list:
AFI MOVIES OF THE YEAR:
BRIDESMAIDS (Paul Feig)
THE DESCENDANTS (Alexander Payne)
THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO (David Fincher)
THE HELP (Tate Taylor)
HUGO (Martin Scorsese)
J. EDGAR (Clint Eastwood)
MIDNIGHT IN PARIS (Woody Allen)
MONEYBALL (Benneth Miller)
THE TREE OF LIFE (Terrence Malick)
WAR HORSE (Steven Spielberg).
I've also only seen two of those. Midnight in Paris and Tree of Life. That's a very mainstream list, the only ones that interest me are Hugo and The Descendants.
ReplyDeleteWell, I've only seen a couple of those so far, but I do have one reaction to Bridesmaids being on the list - "Hell no". I laughed once the entire movie and I fastforwarded through the extended group vomiting/diarhea scene. The extra on the DVD where the actresses were adlibbing tons of lines was far funnier than the movie itself.
ReplyDelete@Bonjour Tristesse, idem for both films. WAR HORSE looks too American for me but I will give a try to Fincher's latest even if I don't see the point of remaking a film release less than 3 years ago.
ReplyDelete@Chip, I loathed BRIDESMAIDS and I think my review was very soft but I'm shocked that it made the last to me it was in the worst of the year...
