  1. I haven't seen any of the Kurosawa films that you haven't, so I can't offer any thoughts there. You've also seen a few more of his films than I have.

    Seven Samurai is my number 1. I consider it not only his best film, but the best non-English language film ever made.

    I haven't seen your number 3 - Redbeard.

    My top 3 would be Seven Samurai, Ikuru, and Throne of Blood.

    1. I am a diehard fan of Kurosawa's work. Seven Samurai is one of the greatest films ever made. However, I prefered Ran over it because of the King Lear adaptation and the vibrant colors.
      I tend to put unusual number ones in my tops because I like underappreciated films from well known directors. When writing about Kurosawa Seven Samurai is a given this is why it isn't my #1. Red Beard isn't often regarded as Kurosawa's greatest work but I admire this film very much.
